Match 1: DBS vs. DC
This past week our U-16 Dubai British School Basketball team, were hoping to start the season off with a win against one of the most remarkable teams in Dubai, The U-16 Dubai College A team. Unfortunately the score was an unbelievable 37-16 to D.C. who played a very strong game!
Our Man of the Match this week was Alex Grant, one of the most exceptional players on the day. A determined performance saw Alex seeking every open opportunity that he could find, whilst on the court, to defend, score or provide chances for teammates.
Although we did lose our first game of the season, we did have an amazing chance to play as a team and learn from our mistakes. Some aspects of the game went well and some not so well. Highlights of the game was our passing, man on man dribbling and always having a team member to pass to if in a position with no other option. One thing we did struggle with were fouls, which gave the opponents opportunities to score more points. Hopefully in next week’s training we will go over on everything that was a down fall for our team.

Match 2: DBS vs. EIS Meadows
The team we played this weekend was Emirates International School Meadows (E.I.S.M.). It was not one of our best performances but still a very enthusiastic game on our behalf. Very close to the end of the first half - the game was very tight with D.B.S. at 12 points and E.I.S.M. at 8 points. But in the end, the final score was 33-22 to E.I.S.M. which I think was disappointing for the whole team.
Our Man of the Match this week was Hamaad Akbar having got 15 points above anyone else who scored. Being the main scorer was only partially the reason he was picked for Man of the Match another thing was his eagerness to get the ball and the fact that he was always open.
Some of the things we did well were our passing our dribbling and our defence. Things that I think we need to improve for next match is definitely our attacking position; we should also use more technical plays, such as Outlet and Zone.
