DBS Cricket.
The season is upon us and our U11, U13 and U15 teams will be pitting their wits against the best Dubai has to offer in the Dubai Schools Cricket League.
DBS Primary Cricket Team
The primary cricket team have been playing in a small league against a few other local schools. This is the first time that we have ever entered into such a league and it has been great fun, something we will certainly be doing again in the future.
Our first match was against Kings' Dubai. The players were very nervous as they had never faced another school in a competitive match before. Despite playing very well and scoring some good runs, we were narrowly beaten. Kings' scored 136 runs and DBS 125. This defeat made the boys all the more determined to improve their game play for the next match.
The next two matches were against Raffles. We played the first match away and hosted the second one. The DBS team were eager to show the skills they had been practising in training and they did not disappoint. The batting and fielding skills were superb, and the boys really started playing as a team. We won the first match 237 runs to 148 and the team were very proud of their victory. The return match was not as easy, Raffles stepped up their play and made it a bit trickier for us. However, we reacted well and finished with 191 runs against Raffles' 159.
The rematch against Kings' was a much anticipated game. DBS were aware that they were only beaten by a few runs in the first leg and were feeling good after the previous two matches. Raffles batted first and they made some really good runs, but luckily our fielding skills had improved and we were able to deal with their skilled batsmen. We were in second to bat and were aware of what we had to do to win. Jack and Max were up first and between them scored a very impressive 29 runs lifting the spirits of the DBS team. The final score was 157 for DBS and 118 for Raffles.
Well done to everyone who has played for the team, we have a few fixtures left and hopefully our improvements will be displayed in these matches too!

DBS V Horizon
The Primary Cricket Team have gone from strength to strength this year and have just gained victory in another match. This time our opponents were from Horizon. Horizon were in to bat first and displayed some really good shots. However, our fielding was fantastic and we prevented the opposition from scroing lots of runs with great catches and some accurate bowling. We were in to bat second and received some tricky bowls from Horizon. We kept our composure though and didn't let the pressure get to us. Horizon finished on 80 runs and DBS on 156. Another superb victory for the team!
