On Saturday 2nd of February DBS U12 team competed in a 11 aside tournament at Dubai college. DBS were drawn in group B with Doha College, Jumairah College and Raffles.
Our first match was against Raffles which despite leading 1-0 at half time we eventually lost 3-1 the scorer for DBS was Ben Jewell. Our second match was against Jumairah college which again we went in at half time leading 1-0 but conceded goals late in the secound half to lose 2-1, the scorer for DBS was Hugo Stahl. Our third and last group match was against Doha college, at this stage our team were starting to get the hang of 11 a side and our younger year 6 players were growing in confidence. With a much improved performance we drew 1-1 with Ben Jewell the scorer. After our group games we progressed to the Shield Competition. In the semi final we were against local rivals, Jess Ranches, the DBS boys put in a fantastic performance to win the game 3-1, with goals from Ben Jewell (2) and Jack Downham. We met EIS Jumeirah in the final. By this stage DBS were playing good passing football with excellent finishing and after a dominating display we beat them 5-0 to win the Shield Cup. Scorers in this final were Ben Jewell, Haroon Aamir, Daniil Jaradeh , Ali Habib and Cameron Baird. The DBS U12 Footballers would like to thank the family support at this tournament and to our Coach for the day, Mr Wright and all the Year 6 players that participated and helped us win this Trophy. Year 5 Football Finals
Venue: Rashid School for Boys Date: 10th December 2012
It was that time of year again for the Sony DSFL finals at Rashid School for Boys. Changes had been made to the format of the league this year and finishing third in the league meant the DBS boys would play all teams who finished third in the North, West and East leagues. This proved to be a very easy task for the Year 5 boys who have shown that they are a very strong team throughout the season. Once again it has been an unfortunate ending to the season as the boys merely missed out on finishing in the top two. Close results against Jebel Ali and Gems WIS hindered their success and unfortunately this meant playing in the third league in the finals.
Aside from that, the boys were outstanding in finals beating Deira 5-0 and Rashid School for Boys 4-0. The team proved in both games why they deserved to play against the best and played some outstanding football. Goalkeeper Manos Andreakis had very little to do in both games however when he was needed, Manos proved why he had been selected as Number 1 goalkeeper for the team. There were outstanding performances all over the pitch and the team was driven by their inspirational captain, Oisin Fagan. Oisin has been a key figure in the team since he moved into the defensive midfield role however man of the tournament came from Matthew Harrison. Matthew proved to be the ‘rock’ in the team and showed some excellent defensive skills not just in the finals, but throughout the season.
Mr Grainger was extremely proud of the boys and as a team it was important for both the players and the manager to recognise that we must push for first place next season. Another succesful season for this very talented group of players.
Well done boys

Year 4 End of Season Tournament
DBS went in to the end of season tournament with lots of confidence after a series of excellent displays, and they didn’t disappoint! One school couldn’t make it, so the format was changed slightly from a straightforward semi-final knockout to a mini league. DBS would play 2 matches knowing that winning both would result in being crowned champions. The first match was against Star International School. After a shaky opening half, DBS scored 3 quick goals and went on to record a convincing victory. So DBS knew that if they won their final match of the season they would win the Tournament. Unfortunately after a long break between games, DBS conceded a goal early in the first half. At halftime they were still trailing and it looked like they wouldn’t be taking the trophy home after all. However on the back of Thomas Jennings’ man of the match performance and a wonder goal from Alex McInnes, DBS cruised to a resounding 6-1 victory, and celebrated all the way home
Year 3-6 Football Fixtures
We are now close to the end of the football season with Year 4, 5 and 6 playing their final games today against DIA. The year 3 and 4 finals will take place on Tuesday 4th December and Wednesday 5th December respectively. Year 5 and 6 finals will also take plave at Rashid School and are due to take place on Monday 10th December and Wednesday 12th December respectively.

Year 3 Finals Tournament at Rashid School for Boys
Team : Alberto Pamais, Rory Clune, Paul Waters, Matt Wilson, Owen Meisonnave, Tom Turnball Jackson, Leonard Feghali
After Jebal Ali showing DBS how to get the ball in the back of net last week, it was DBS’s turn to show Star International School. It took just 3 minutes before Leonard Feghali skilfully moved the ball around the Stars defence & slotted the ball into the net. Giving DBS an early lead. Matt Wilson covered well in defence consistently, which meant DBS could push forward in attack. It took only another 3 minutes before Feghali again found the net again & put DBS 2 goals up at half time. Paul Waters & Owen Meisonnave combined well in attack & put pressure on the Stars keeper & gained a free kick, which Feghali placed into the top left corner of the net to complete his hat-trick. Final score 3-0.
With DBS needing to win this game to secure the trophy it took a strong team performance against JESS Ranches to keep hopes alive. The match was tit for tat & the strong keeping skills of Tom TJ kept DBS in the game. Rory Clune covered all the midfield & created space for Alberto Pamias to get a few runs on goal. The scores where level at the break & it was Paul Waters who came up with what would be the winning goal. After a few attempts, Paul collect a rebound & opened his account with a well solid finish. Final score 1-0. Well done to everyone that played & a good finish to the season. The trophies & medals are well deserved.
Thank you parents for your support.

DBS vs DIA (Year 4, 5, and 6)
DBS vs DIA (Year 4)
DBS played fantastically once again, to record their second victory of the year. With 2 wins in their last 3 they go into the end of season tournament in great form. In a tight match, two goals from midfielder Rhys Peacock, was the difference between the two teams. The first was a sweetly struck free kick into the bottom corner of the net, the second, a contender for goal of the season, was a thunderbolt of a strike from 20 yards away. Once again the defenders and goal keeper looked good in keeping a clean sheet, and the midfield and attack always looked dangerous. Bring on the Tournament!

DBS vs Regent International School (Year 4)
In our 1st ever home fixture DBS fittingly recorded their 1st win of the season. Alex Wehbe made home advantage count, as DBS quickly raced out into the lead, with a delightful finish after being 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper. Alex soon struck again to double the lead, as DBS played some lovely passing football. At half time the home team was in complete control. Aaron was untroubled in goal, the defensive pairing of Daniel and, captain, Tom were rock solid and an attacking front four of Rhys, Alex McInnes, Thomas J and Alex Wehbe rotated to good effect. However, an early mistake after halftime led to a Regent goal and they were right back in the game. In an exciting, end to end encounter, 2 further goals from Rhys and the hat trick goal from Alex sealed a much deserved win, with Regent able to muster a consolation goal at the end. It was a fantastic football match, played in the right spirit with lots and lots of parent support. More home games please Mr. Wright!

Match two- DBS vs Jebal Ali and Kings (Year 3)
Team: Alberto Pamais, Rory Clune, Paul Waters, Matt Wilson, Owen Meisonnave, Tom Turnball Jackson, Leonard Feghali and Thomas Evans.
After winning their first game against GEMS Wellington hopes were high for their back to back fixtures against Jebal Ali and Kings.
DBS Started off slow and Jebal Ali were quick to take advantage and slotted home 3 goals without reply, before Paul Waters got sent the bal flying through the air hitting the top right corner. Jebal Ali replied quickly 2 goals in the space of a minute. Final score 5-1 to Jebal Ali.
The second game was against Kings and after the defeat the match before, DBS started off well and controlled possession, but a quick break from kings saw them go up 1-0. Then just before the break DBS managed to level the scores at 1-1. After the break both teams had plenty of chances and it was Kings who capitalised first taking a 2-1 lead with only 2 minutes to go. Leonard Feghali forced his way through the Kings defense managed to get the equaliser with only 30 seconds to go. Final score 2-2, with DBS finishing second in their group, which means we go into the second place finals next week at Rashid School for boys.
Many thanks to the parents who came to support.

Match four- DBS at DESC Tournament (Year 5)
Venue: Dubai English Speaking College
Date: 22nd November 2012
This was an exciting day for the Year 5 boys and expectations were high in the camp. The boys were very positive about the tournament and were faced with a tough group. DESS, JESS Ranches and Jumeirah Primary School were the fixtures lined up for the year 5 team and they looked ready to take on the world.
The team breezed through the group stages beating JESS and JPS however they narrowly missed out on topping the group losing a late goal to DESS. The year 5 team progressed into the quarter finals and it was fate that they would face their arch rivals Jebel Ali Primary School. Another close and hard fought fixture unfortunately ended up as a loss with Jebel Ali scoring one of the luckiest goals ever witnessed in football.
The boys were excellent throughout the day and should be proud of their achievements. They now have one more fixture against DIA before entering the finals at Rashid School for Boys next week.
Well done boys

Squad: Oisin Fagan (Captain), Manos Andreakis, Harry Ives, Omar Omar, Jan Font, Peter Jaradeh, Arran Knight, Matthew Harrison, Stephen Waters, Philip Feghali.

Match three- DBS vs EIS Meadows (Year 5)
Result: DBS 1 vs EIS 0
This was not meant to be one of year 5’s toughest fixtures however by the result, it looks like it was a very hard fought game. The passing was very slow and we did not play well as a team. We need to pass quicker and shoot better in front of goal. I think Manos was man of the match because he saved lots of shots and kept us in the game. Oisin scored the only goal and hopefully we will play better as a team in the next game. At least we won the game in the end.

Match Five- DBS vs EIS Meadows (Year 6)
The match went pretty well, we played EIS M on Sunday 9 November. The starting formation was 3 defenders, 2 midfielders and 1 attacker. The possession was maybe 55% to us and 45% to them. During the first half they scored a whopping own goal and we were in the lead 1-0. James was subbed off and Billy was sent on. A few minutes later they dribbled through Billy’s legs and what was suppose to be a cross it was a shot and they scored, the score now was 1-1. The half time whistle blew. Ali was then substituted and on came Jack Birch. Mr Grainger made a few more changes to try and get year 6 their first victory of the season. The final whistle blew and we all cheered for EIS, and everyone went home with a smile.

Match Four- DBS vs Jebel Ali Primary School (Year 6)
After playing the first match against Kings, some boys from Secondary helped us with on Tight marking, Chasing the ball, and if the ball is close to you 'go get it' which really helped.
Again the match seemed to be played in our defensive half, with Sebastian and Alex and Kevin being under constant pressure.Billy again surged forward and at the last moment passed the ball to Jack B. Our forward when they did get the ball were always trying, but we need more movement off the ball, with people creating space and more awareness to build up our passing together.
James and Sergio with Jac M, really tried but again found it difficult to break away or connect on passing. We lost 4-1
Man of the match - We had a vote and it was between Sebastian and Kevin.

Match Three- DBS vs Kings School (Year 6)
We played Kings at Jebel Ali School. From the whistle they put pressure on our defence, with little action or ball in our attacking half. Alex played really well in defence, with Billy coming on at half time on the wing and doing well. James was solid throughout the match, Serjio, had a quiet match, and received the ball infrequently. Ibraham had changed position to mid -field and also played well. Again it was a tough match and we lost 6-1

Match Two- DBS vs GEMS Wellington International School (Year 5)- 16 Oct 2012
At kick-off, Omar passed it back to Jan who passed it to MATTHEW who passed it across to Arran who passed it back to the goalie, Harry Ives who attempted to return it to Arran but lost the ball to the other team who shot and scored. 1-0 to Wellington.
At the restart, Omar passed it back to Jan who tried to chip it over the other teams players over to Omar however the other team intercepted it passed it down the wing and then crosed it in and the player passed it out to the other winger who shot it and scored in the bottom corner.2 - 0 to Wellington
We kicked of again and kept the ball in their half but then they tackled us, booted it down into our half, dribbeled it around our 1 defender and shot it over Harry into goal. 3-0 to Wellington.
HALF TIME.
In the second half DBS had several attempts at goal however all of them off target and over the croossbar.
DBS defending improved in the second half, limiting Wellington attempts on goal and conceding no goals in the second half.

Match Two- DBS vs GEMS Wellington International School (Year 6)- 16 Oct 2012
On a blistering afternoon, DBS played GEMS Wellington school.
It was a really tough match and I think we could do better. The ball seemed be stuck in our defensive half with the attack seeing little of the ball. Kevin the goal keeper did really well, trying to keep the ball out continuously out of the net. The GEMS football team was really strong, and we should learn more from this match. Final score 8-0 to GEMS WIS

This was our first match of the season, which ended as 1-1 (draw)
Ibrahim scored the only goal.
The man of the match is Jack Matthews, because he did a lot of good passing and creating space off the ball. He also did the fantastic assist to Ibrahim for the goal. Everyone played really well, as a team and we should take a lot of positives from the game. Well done lads.

Match One- DBS vs Raffles World Academy (Year 5)- 10 Oct 2012
We started off by keeping control of the ball but shortly afterwards due to a weak pass the opposition gained the ball, however the ball was always kept in our half of the pitch. Then Arran intercepted it and booted the ball down to Omar who attempted to score but just missed. Then the ball kept being turned around between the teams.
Second half. Raffles started off and they passed it back to their defense and had the ball in their half. Then I tackled, had a shot, hit the post and the goalie pushed it away. Omar shot and hit the goalie in the face. Omar then took a rebound and scored but the ref said it was no goal because he blew the whistle before he scored. Immediately we had a corner - Steve passed it to Jan but Jan shot and hit the crossbar. The goalie booted it, Steve got the ball, passed it to Jan, Jan ran down the line, shot and scored. Raffles started and they passed it down the line and two players went to tackle him but he passed it back inside to the striker- who got a goal but it was disallowed due to hand ball. Hassan came on for Steven in defensive midfield and played more forward as a striker and had to be reminded to play back- but nonetheless had a good game.
My recommendation for 'Man of the match' is Arran as he passed well and made some great tackles.
FINAL SCORE: 1 - 0 TO DBS

Match One- DBS vs. GEMS Wellington International School (Year 3)
Team
- Leonard Feghali, Matt Wilson, Rory Clune, Thomas Evans, Thomas T-J, Paul Waters, Alberto Pamais, Owen Meisonnave
The Year 3 Football season kicked off against GEMS Wellington International School with a superb 2-0 win. A solid first half from DBS meant we kept the majority of the possession, but there was little to show for it. Alberto Pamias looked to be a promising threat in attack with several excellent shots on target, but couldn't get one passed the Wellington keeper. Matt Wilson and Leonard defended solidly and made sure the scores remained at 0-0 at half time.
After half time DBS picked up the pace began to dominate Wellington with some slick and accurate passing. After building up the pressure with some good team work from Owen Meisonnave and Paul Waters, they were able to set up a mighty strike from Feghali's boot to give DBS the lead with 5 minutes to go. Wellington looked to reply quickly, but some strong work in defense from Thomas Evans ensured keeper Tom Turnball-Jackson was able to take control and gather the ball. With 1 minute to go Rory Clune squashed any chance of draw with a good finish to give DBS a 2-0 lead.
Players of the Match were voted as being Leonard Feghali and Alberto Pamias, so big well done to those two.
A great start to the season and thanks to the parents who turned up to support.

DBS vs Repton was quite a challenging match but DBS was undefeatable that day with a great 2-0 win. I scored both goals. Both DBS's and Repton's defence were tough to get through. So with that 2-0 win DBS go to the top of the charts with 3 points.

In this match, the last match of the season, we did really well . We won 5-0, it was our best match yet. The striker and mid-fielders were really good especially Dahnya, Ava and Emma, who scored the goals. One of the goal scorers did excenptionally well and that was Emma, who scored 3 of the 5 goals.
Our team were brilliant when it came to tackling and shooting, however we could have done better in some other areas, for instance spreading out and getting into space. This caused JESS to get the ball down towards our goalie. Luckily, thanks to some great defending and Maxine's saves, we managed to stay on top of them.
JESS had strong kicks and a good passing technique but they didn't get the better of us.
